College of Business faculty, staff and students recognized for recent achievements include Janessa Hageman, Dr. Rachel Larson, Dr. Daniel Tannenbaum, Dr. Chris Timm and award recipients recognized by the Department of Economics and Department of Marketing.
 

  • Jennifer Bernard, doctoral student in economics, received the Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student Award from the university’s Economics Graduate Student Committee, which recognizes top performers from teaching evaluations and performance. She also recently received two scholastic awards including the Robert C. & Patricia N. Bingham Teaching Fellowship Award and the Campbell R. McConnell Dissertation Fellowship Award. 
  • Shih-Hsien Chuang, doctoral student in economics, received the Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student Award from the university’s Economics Graduate Student Committee.
  • Aditya Gupta, doctoral student in marketing, received the Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student Award from the Department of Marketing. The award is based on their teaching evaluations.
  • Janessa Hageman, assistant director of internship and job search strategies for the Business Career Center, was accepted into the 2018-19 National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE) Leadership Advancement Program, an initiative designed to provide differentiated leadership preparation for NACE members who wish to develop leadership skills and aspire to NACE leadership roles.
  • Matthew Hall, doctoral student in marketing, was selected for the Department of Marketing Award for Excellence in Research by a Graduate Student. The award recognizes his overall research performance for the academic year.
  • Dr. Alok Kumar, associate professor of marketing, received the Department of Marketing Faculty Excellence in Mentoring Award. Selecting by doctoral students, he was recognized for his significant mentoring efforts of graduate students.
  • Dr. Rachel Larson, director of the Business Career Center, was selected to serve on the National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE) Principles for Ethical Professional Practice Committee. This national committee sets the standards for ethical professional practice for the career services and college recruiting profession. It ensures NACE content related to ethical principles and practices is current and relevant and responds to member needs through the development of resources and programs. Her term begins in July.
  • Brian Liston-Clark, doctoral student in economics, received the Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student Award from the university’s Economics Graduate Student Committee. He also was selected for the university’s Robert C. & Patricia N. Bingham Teaching Fellowship Award.
  • Laura McLeod, assistant professor of practice in marketing, received the Department of Marketing Faculty Teaching Award. The award is based on their teaching evaluations.
  • Abigail Nappier Cherup, doctoral student in marketing, was selected for the Department of Marketing Award for Excellence in Research by a Graduate Student. The award recognizes her overall research performance for the academic year.
  • Seth Orndorff, doctoral student in economics, received the Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student Award from the university’s Economics Graduate Student Committee.
  • Junpyo Park, doctoral student in economics, received the Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student Award from the university’s Economics Graduate Student Committee.
  • Dr. S. Sajeesh, assistant professor of marketing, was selected for the Department of Marketing Faculty Research Award. The award recognizes his overall research performance for the academic year.
  • Shilpa Somraj, doctoral student in marketing, was recognized with the Baker Award for Excellence in Service by a Graduate Student. Selected by marketing graduate students, faculty and staff, she was recognized as the best "departmental citizen," who supports her fellow students, participates actively in hosting the Nebraska Doctoral Symposium and participates actively in the doctoral student group.
  • Andrew Sorsen, doctoral student in economics, received the Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student Award from the university’s Economics Graduate Student Committee.
  • Dr. Daniel Tannenbaum, assistant professor of economics, and his research on new technologies and the labor market was highlighted by the Washington Center for Equitable Growth. He and his co-authors – economists Enghin Atalay and Phai Phongthiengtham at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Sebastian Sotelo at the University of Michigan – explore the relationship between the adoption of new technologies in occupations across the U.S. economy and how technology within occupations is contributing to growing income inequality.   • Dr. Chris Timm, associate director of employer experience and outreachfor the Business Career Center,was selected to serve on the National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE) Leadership Advancement Program (LAP) Committee. The committee identifies the annual objectives for LAP participant training and implements the program for 25-30 members selected for the program. Her term begins in July.
