8:30-9:30 a.m.	Welcome and Core Curriculum Changes There are exciting changes to the undergraduate core curriculum that will provide connections with employers, alumni, and professionals. Hear from Dean Kathy Farrell to learn about these changes as well as other college initiatives.
9:45-11:25 a.m.	Business Majors and Program Spotlight Hear from College of Business faculty and staff to learn about our majors and key programs. Three options to choose from in each 30-minute session (Sessions will be announced soon)
11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.	Lunch, Business Career Center Highlights, Awards Over lunch, connect with College of Business faculty and staff and other employers. The Business Career Center will share recruiting trends and unique programs to enhance your engagement efforts. The Business Career Center will present the Employer of the Year, Sue Vagts Faculty/Staff Partner of the Year, and Intern of the Year awards.
12:45-1:30 p.m.	Breakout Session Topics TBD
1:40-2:25 p.m.	Networking and Ice Cream Enjoy UNL Dairy Store Ice Cream while mingling with other recruiters. Potential discussion prompts will be at each table, but this is your chance to learn from each other.

Virtual Update Session The session will include content from both the College and Business Career Center Overview/Highlights sessions to help employers learn of new curriculum, updates, and future plans. A Zoom link will be provided to registrants via email.

Kathy Farrell

James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean and Professor of Finance

Dr. Kathy Farrell became the James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business on Dec. 1, 2017, after serving nearly a year as interim dean. She led an inclusive strategic planning process that resulted in a new mission, guiding principles and initiatives to advance the college.

Under her leadership, the college launched a business analytics major, a business and law major, the Seacrest Teaching Fellows program, the Inclusive Business Leaders program and several new online graduate and professional development programs. She also increased donor support to double the number of endowed faculty chairs and expanded student services, providing free tutoring, more scholarships and retention-focused initiatives.

An experienced academic and business leader, Farrell was elected to the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) Board of Directors in 2023. She formerly served the College of Business as associate dean for four years and chair of the Department of Finance for two years. She serves on the boards of directors of Lincoln-based organizations Nelnet, Inc., Assurity, Inc., Bryan Health, and Lincoln Community Foundation, among other nonprofit boards and committees.

Farrell joined the College of Business faculty in 1993 and taught corporate finance and banking for more than 20 years. She earned tenure in 2001, became a full professor in 2009 and received both the Distinguished Teaching Award and the University Distinguished Teaching Award.

Farrell’s research interests include executive compensation, executive turnover and succession, and other corporate governance issues. Her publications have appeared in such journals as the Journal of Business, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Corporate Finance, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, National Tax Journal, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Research and others.

Prior to earning her Ph.D. in finance from the University of Georgia, Farrell was an auditor for KPMG Peat Marwick in Baltimore and Atlanta and earned the designation of Certified Public Accountant (inactive). She received her bachelor's degree from Kent State University in Ohio.

Is there a cost?

To attend in-person there is a $15 cost, which includes lunch. The virtual event is free but only covers part of the content of the full in-person day.

Where should I park?

We recommend parking in the 14th & Avery Garage. From the 14th & Avery Garage, you’ll walk south to 14th and Vine St. Hawks Hall is on the southeast corner with doors on the west side of the building that face the stadium. View campus maps

How should I prepare for Employer Partners Day held via Zoom?

Set yourself up for success on Zoom by testing your software and equipment. On the day of, update your Zoom name to include your organization. You can do this by hovering over your name, click Rename, then change your name.

New Program Offers Tuition Reduction for Your Employees, Members

The College of Business now offers three-year flexible partnership agreements for companies and organizations so you can offer a 15% tuition reduction for Nebraska's four business master's degrees and nine graduate certificate programs to your employees and members. There is no minimum or maximum number of students required to take advantage of the program.
