Giving Back to the Community
Caleb Newburn’s outlook on college shifted in a positive way after he started a part-time position at Haberfeld Associates in Lincoln. With a new mindset, he decided to enroll in a course that allowed him to get involved and give back to Lincoln. The courses provided a fresh insight into his community. It also allowed him to create solutions for rising challenges seen by nonprofits in Lincoln.

Living and Learning Together Builds Network for First-Year Students
As an out-of-state student, Matea Spyhalski started college without knowing anyone. By selecting to participate in a Business Learning Community while making her university housing decision her senior year of high school, she found herself surrounded by a network of first-year students as she adjusted to life at Nebraska. Students who live in learning communities typically earn a higher first-semester GPA on average, are more likely to graduate on time and take advantage of internship and involvement opportunities sooner in their college career.
