Securing Your Propane Tanks
It is likely that propane tanks are already firmly anchored since it is required by NFPA-58 statutes. If a propane tank is not firmly secured at this time, it should be strapped down. Department of Homeland Security/FEMA directions can be followed. As a secondary precaution, propane tanks can be secured with a chain or cable to a large tree or other stationary object, but not a building. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources directions provide guidance.
